Working, Working, & More Working!
I’m sure we have all been there. Working 40+ hours a week for a company (maybe even between a few companies) , then coming home and not working on your own dreams. Putting all into your career & family, but not investing in yourself. You have dreams, you have a vision for yourself, but you get sidetracked because there is so many other things that you simply have to take care of. I get it, I really do. Next to your everyday responsibilities, making your dreams come true can be forced to take a backseat.
Make Time for Your Dreams
Although it’s easier said then done, one thing that I have realized recently is this: You have to make time for you and your goals. Instead of just imagining your dreams, make sure that you do what you have to do in order to make those dreams come true. It’s going to be a lot of early mornings & late nights, trust me on that. Easy? It will not be that at all…but worth it? Most definitely. See, your drams are bigger than that 9-5. You might not think so, especially since that 9-5 is paying your bills, and making sure that you have a roof over your head. Your life outside of your dreams is demanding, I know. Realize this: your dreams will NEVER come true if you don’t work on them. You have to make time for your dreams, despite all that might be going on around you.
How Do You Do It?
So, now we arrive at the question “How do we make our dreams come true?”. How do you put aside time to work on your dreams when you don’t have enough in the day for things you have an obligation to do? The answer is complicated, but simple…if that’s possible. I say it’s complicated because I don’t know your schedule, I don’t know what you have to do day in and day out. I say it’s simple because all you have to do it make your dreams a priority. Take a few minutes at the very least every day to think about how you can get one step closer to making your dreams come true. At some point, you’re going to need to dedicate more than a few minutes a day to your dreams…but let’s not worry about that right now. Baby steps! Prioritize your dreams, because at some point you want to live your dreams.
Don’t Be Afraid!
When I decided that I would invest in myself more than I would ever invest in another company again, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t afraid. I was more than afraid…I was terrified! Give up a solid bi-weekly paycheck for something that’s not guaranteed??? It felt like I couldn’t possibly be great unless I was working hard for someone! We can’t let fear be the reason we leave only see our dreams when we close our eyes at night. The reality of the situation is this: Fear can equal failure if you let it. Now you’re thinking “So if I am afraid, that means I am a failure?”. Let’s gain a bit more clarification on that subject.
Sometimes, failure can’t be avoided. We are humans, and that means we aren’t perfect. This blog post isn’t about what you can avoid, though. We are discussing failure that doesn’t have to be so. If you are failing at making your dreams come true because you fear everything that comes along with it, that’s 100 percent your fault. I hate to be so frank about it, but it is what it is. Conquering fear is a choice that you have to make everyday, right along with the choice to make your dreams come true. You can’t live your dream if you aren’t woke on your abilities to make it come true.
